This often-asked question came to me again recently…
Lara, do you have a meditation practice?
No, I do not have a practice, as such, that is separate from other things that I do. I used to be one of those people that could barely sit still, so getting me to sit in meditation for even 5 minutes was as challenging as getting a macho man to wear pink. I gave up even trying. It was only when I reflected on what meditation truly is, that I found the way I could reach that state in a way that worked for me. The definition of true meditation is simply to be fully present.
So I realised that whether I was driving or eating or playing with my kittens, as long as I was fully present in that moment, with that activity, and only that activity, I was in meditation. So instead of practicing meditation, I began to practice being fully present in everything I do.
According to this definition, meditation is now an intrinsic part of my day and my life, I cannot separate it from anything that I do anymore….and being fully present in all things has totally transformed my life, in every way.
As with everything, there is no right way, there is no wrong way…..you need to find the way that works for you.
With Aloha,
Lara
